ROBOne participated in the ‘2024 K-ICT WEEK in BUSAN’ held at BEXCO Exhibition Hall 2 for three days from September 10 (Tue) to 12 (Thu).
ROBOne is a startup founded in 2020 by a group of experts with over 20 years of experience in the robotics field. They have accumulated their own research and development and commercialization experience centered on delta robots specialized in high-speed, precision automation work.
ROBOne, which began to stand out in the domestic robotics industry by introducing the ‘ROBO’ series in its first year of establishment, has been aggressively expanding its portfolio over the years. In particular, it recently succeeded in developing ‘ROBin’, which automatically sorts waste, and is currently conducting verification tests at multiple domestic waste treatment plants.
At this exhibition, ROBOne also attracted visitors by exhibiting and operating Robin, which represents its will to advance into the eco-friendly robotics field.
ROBOne’s Robin series can distinguish 10 types of waste specified in the domestic recycling classification system, including plastics such as PET (NPET), PE, PP, and PS, as well as metal waste such as glass, aluminum, and steel cans, with an accuracy of 99.4%. In addition, ROBOne explains that the speed is so fast that it can sort 85 types of waste in just one minute.
The Robin series, which is currently being introduced and operated in three public and private sorting facilities, is expected to be distributed to a wider area in the future as its effectiveness is proven. This is expected to significantly improve the productivity of the existing waste disposal system that is highly dependent on manpower, and in particular, it is expected to contribute to the activation of resource circulation by enabling 24/7 operation.
A RoboOne official explained, “The appearance of waste disposal sites that have maintained a form that is not human-friendly, whether in terms of hygiene or safety, will be revolutionized by the advancement of AI (artificial intelligence) and robotics technology,” and “In order to leap forward as a company leading this trend, our company has preemptively completed the development of the system, and is also conducting advanced research and development to improve functionality, stability, and accuracy.”
In addition, RoboOne is strengthening its technical cooperation with evTerra, an electronic waste recycling company under PedalPoint Holdings in the US, and plans to deploy one RoboOne robot at their Chicago hub by the end of this year and begin test operations early next year.
Regarding this, a RoboOne official said, “We plan to implement the function of sorting electronic waste such as PCBs, capacitors, copper, motors, and transformers in Robin and introduce it to the US,” and “We expect that this will be used to additionally recover valuable metals that were not sorted in the existing process, and will help solve the problem of accumulated electronic waste, which is a global problem.”
Meanwhile, ‘2024 K-ICT WEEK in BUSAN’ is the largest ICT comprehensive event in the Southeast region where three events, AI KOREA, CLOUD EXPO KOREA, and IT EXPO BUSAN, are held simultaneously. Through this integrated hosting, a venue for 4th industrial revolution technology and networking has been created.
